Transmit can optionally apply Unix-style permissions to a file or folder after it has been uploaded.

Not all servers offer the ability to set permissions. Only Unix-style servers, WebDAV servers, and Amazon S3 understand permissions.

To view the options for automatic permission setting:

  1. Choose Transmit > Settings…
  2. Click Rules

Use the + or - buttons to add or remove specific file type extensions for which permissions should be automatically applied.

Enable or disable automatic permission setting for that file type by checking or unchecking the box next to it.

Click on a file type so select it, then choose the desired permission settings in the box on the right.

Permission sets can be set independently based on transfer protocol. For example, a png file uploaded via SFTP has one set of permissions applied, and a different set when uploaded to Amazon S3.
